CWO3 Todd Herbert is a native of Mobile, Ala., and graduated from John Shaw High School in 1979. He enlisted in the Navy in February 1982. In June 1982 he completed training for Aviation Structural Mechanic (Structures) at Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Millington, Tenn. Todd then reported to Naval Air Maintenance Training Group Detachment (NAMTRAGRUDET), NAS Oceana, Va., for advanced training. Todd then reported to Fighter Squadron 171 (VF 171), the "Flying Aces," at NAS Key West, Florida.

After decommissioning VF 171, Todd received orders to Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) at NAS Pensacola where he served as airframes shift supervisor. Todd transferred to USS Guam (LPH 9). He completed two Mediterranean Sea deployments and numerous amphibious exercises, before reporting to AIMD Oceana in January 1990.

In February 1993, Todd reported to Precommissioning Unit Kearsarge in Pascagoula Miss. After commissioning USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) he was promoted to chief petty officer. Todd completed the ship's maiden deployment to the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas and participated numerous combat operations. Todd reported to AIMD Norfolk in March 1997. In April 1999 Todd was promoted to senior chief petty officer. He was commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer in September 2000.

After completing the Limited Duty Officer/Chief Warrant Officer indoctrination and the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Manager course, Todd reported for duty with the Strike Fighter Squadron 34 (VFA 34) "Blue Blasters" at NAS Oceana. Todd completed a combat deployment to the Arabian Gulf aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Southern Watch. Todd then reported to AIMD Oceana in February 2004.

Todd joined the Blue Angels in September of 2005. His decorations include four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, six Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various personal and unit awards.
